Montgomery County Initiates Bias Study

Montgomery County’s States Attorney says a new study will report on any bias or discrimination in the states attorney’s office.

Montgomery County’s State’s Attorney wants an independent study of how his department handles cases that involve people of color.  John McCarthy says he is hoping for a postive change regarding any bias or discrimination that might be happening in the State’s Attorney office.  Melba Pearson, an attorney with Florida International University and Brian D. Johnson, a professor of criminology at the University of Maryland, will conduct the two year study.
