(Washington, DC) — Former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s upcoming book claims President Trump asked him to call Ukraine’s president-elect and encourage him to meet with Rudy Giuliani. The New York Times reports that the President made the request in the Oval Office with Giuliani, acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone present. Cipollone is leading the president’s defense in the impeachment trial. The claim would be direct evidence that President Trump was directly involved in the pressure campaign House managers claim was underway to use Ukraine to smear a political opponent.
