The family of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson who was shot and killed in July of 2018 are set to hold a press conference today. Sources say the family is going to sue the DC Housing Authority in connection with her murder.
The attorney for the family Brian McDaniel says there will be a news conference about the suit today. Initial reports state it will begin at 10:30. They plan to announce the filing of a $30 million dollar lawsuit against the agency in connection with her death.
Wilson’s shooting in her Clay Terrace Northeast community gripped the DMV. She was struck by gunfire running to an ice cream truck. The family’s lawyer says The DC Housing Authority failed them and the community.
It did not take police long to make several arrests in the case. In fact, seven people have been charged in her murder. Charged are Marquell Cobbs, Darrise Jeffers, Qujuan Thomas, Quentin Michals, Gregory Taylor and Mark Tee Price.
