Washington, D.C. (Monday, January 6, 2025) – The one two punch from Old Man Winter is making getting around the DMV and even trying to head out of the region tough. The snowstorm is impacting cars, trains, and planes. Below is a quick recap of what’s happening this hour at 7 a.m. Monday.
Metrobus is operating under a Severe Snow Plan today. Metrorail is reported to be open and running on schedule. Metro says the plan impacts 42 of its 193 bus routes with more changes possible based on road conditions. The transit agency says MetroAccess customers have been contacted and are being told to adjust their travel plans. All commuters should check the Metro website for updates www.wmata.com.
Reagan National Airport is reporting more than 400 flight cancellations.
BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport has canceled 200+ flights.
Dulles Airport has 150+ flights canceled.
Amtrak is reporting dozens of trains canceled along the Northeast corridor.
On the roadways, officials across the region say they are working hard to get an upper hand. But snowfall is expected throughout the day.
