Washington, D.C. (Sunday, March 20, 2022) – Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is in Sibley Memorial Hospital. Justice Thomas was taken to the DC hospital Sunday after reportedly experiencing flulike symptoms.
A statement from the court said “his symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two.” The 73-year-old justice is vaccinated and boosted.
The Supreme Court reconvenes tomorrow. According to the statement, Justice Thomas will “participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases that he cannot physically be present for on the basis of the briefs, transcripts, and audio of the oral arguments.”
Justice Thomas is the longest serving member of the U.S. Supreme Court. He was nominated by then President H.W. Bush and seated on October 23, 1981.
