(Washington, DC) — President Biden is isolating and working from the White House residence after getting a positive COVID diagnosis. Speaking to reporters, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the President is feeling fine with a little dry cough and a runny nose. He’s also somewhat fatigued. White House Covid Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said Biden is fully vaccinated and double-boosted and faces a greatly-reduced risk of serious illness.
Dr. Jha again urged unvaccinated Americans to get the full regimen of shots and boosters. Biden is being treated with the antiviral drug Paxlovid. Jha said the President sounded great when he spoke with him by phone. Biden is 79. Jha noted the President will continue to be closely monitored by the White House medical unit.
