Most experts on leadership have a mental picture of their ideal future. At Howard, an ideal future is infiltrated with students of and from the Diaspora who are prepared to make academia more inclusive. Since it’s inception, Howard University’s Bison STEM Scholars Program has delivered on its promise to educate, mentor, and fund freshman students who have already expressed their interest in pursuing either a STEM Ph.D. or STEM M.D./Ph.D. dual degree. On this episode of “The Journey,” Dr. Wayne Frederick chats with Ronald Smith, the director of the Bison STEM Scholars Program and two members of cohort 3, Maya Brown and Devante Kerr.
