You’ve heard about the Central Park 5 but what about the Groveland Four? Folks get your popcorn, there will probably be another box office film on this one. In 1949, 4 African American men wrongly accused of an attack on a man and a raping a 17 year old girl in Groveland Florida.
Recently, Charles Greenlee, Walter Irvin, Samuel Shepherd and Earnest Thomas were all exonerated of the crime by the Florida Republican Governor Rick DeSantis . All of the men are deceased except one.
Several family members of the Groveland 4 were present at an event where a memorial was revealed exonerating them.
