Washington, D.C. (Tuesday, February 7, 2023) – An early morning fire in NW DC has claimed the lives of two elderly women. DC Fire officials say it took 50 firefighters to bring the blaze under control around 3am Tuesday in the 7200 Block of 8th Street.
It is not clear what started the fire. But officials say the fire was contained to one room on the 2nd floor of the home. The name of the victims have not yet been released. Fire Chief John Donnelly reminded residents to check their smoke alarms and to check on elderly neighbors to make sure they are safe.
