DC “Thou Shalt Not Kill” Movement Launches

Community activists in Anacostia launched an anti-violence movement today titled “Thou Shalt Not Kill”.  The initiative revives a 30-year-old effort in the district –complete with red and posters with the Old Testament commandment– started by former DC Councilmember William Lightfoot. Anacostia Coordinating Council Executive Director Philip Pannell and Busboys and Poets owner Andy Shallal hosted the event at the restaurant in Anacostia.  A restaurant employee was shot to death outside that location in December.
