“Please Help Me”: D’Vontaye Mitchell Died Begging For Help While Pinned Down By Hotel Employee In Milwaukee

Calls for justice are growing in the death of D’Vontaye Mitchell, a Black man who died after being pinned down by security guards at a Milwaukee hotel.

The incident has sparked outrage and renewed discussions about systemic brutality against Black people. Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump, who represented George Floyd’s family, is demanding justice for Mitchell’s death and calling for charges to be filed against those responsible.

Surveillance video shows Mitchell being punched, kicked, and dragged outside the hotel, prompting further scrutiny of the incident.

Brenda Giles, D’Vontaye Mitchell’s mother shared Wednesday,“To see him go out this world the way he did, that was devastating. That would never leave my mind, that’s going to live with me for the rest of my life.”

Reverend Al Sharpton spoke at Mitchell’s funeral Thursday. “Do you all put white folks to the ground and put your knee in their neck.” He added, “Who you consider the least, God considers the most.”

The case is currently under investigation, with no criminal charges filed yet.
