President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, prompting celebrities like Cher, Katy Perry, Barbra Streisand, and John Legend to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the next president.

Biden expressed gratitude for his time in office and for his decision to step down to focus on his duties.  Barbra Streisand, a Democratic supporter, wrote Sunday on X that “we should be grateful for his upholding of our democracy.”

Cher claimed to have been “tortured” in her post on X because she doesn’t think the Democrats could prevail without Biden. She suggested a split ticket and said it was time to go “way outside the box.”

Actor Robert De Niro thanked Biden for his,” act of shrewd politics and selfless patriotism.” According to The Hill, De Niro commented, “Joe Biden is stepping aside to clear the path for another Democrat to become president.” He added, “because there is nothing more important for our country than defeating Donald Trump at the ballot box.”
