Maryland Teen Charged With Threats of Mass Violence

According to Montgomery County Police Department, an 18-year-old high school student has been charged in connection with plans to commit a school shooting.

It was reported that Andrea Ye (Alex Ye), of Rockville, was arrested on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, following an investigation by MCPD and the FBI Baltimore Field Office, once it was discovered that Ye created a 129-page “manifesto”.

The document revealed Ye’s plan to commit the school shooting and the idea to target an elementary school first. He admits to wanting to do this horrific act for the desire to be famous.


Chief Marcus Jones acknowledged in a press conference Friday that Montgomery County Schools received 140 threats, this year already. The district plans to increase security at schools, with a focus on Wootton High School.

The search warrant by MCPD discovered problematic drawings, internet searches, and documents related to threats of mass violence.

This is not the first time Ye has threatned the idea of a ‘school shooting’ his arrest warrant reveals he was hospitalized in 2022 and 2023 for “homicidal ideations.”

Currently, Ye is in custody at Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where his was charged with threats of mass violence and waiting for a bond hearing.
