Raises Start Today For DC’s Tipped Workers

Under the program, another two-dollar-an-hour bump will come in July.

(Washington, DC) — Tipped workers in DC will see fatter pay envelopes at week’s end. That’s because Initiative 82 begins today, upping the hourly wages of tipped employees to six-dollars, up from five-35. Under the program, another two-dollar-an-hour bump will come in July, followed by yearly increases of two-bucks an hour until the tipped employee minimum wage equals the non-tipped employee minimum wage in 2027.
