Solange Reveals She’s Been Fighting Multiple Autoimmune Conditions For Years

Shaun Ross, a fellow artist, had posted about his postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) induced by long COVID when the 38-year-old musician responded.

Solange Knowles revealed on social media that she was diagnosed with various autoimmune illnesses in 2018. Knowles wrote in the comment, “I was diagnosed with POTS, Sjogren’s and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) back in 2018. I completely understand what it’s like not to want your health circumstances to define you.”

Knowles thanked the “spoonie” community, a group of chronically ill people who use spoons to define their daily energies. Knowles’ postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) can induce a rapid heartbeat, lightheadedness, and weariness when standing up.  Sjogren’s disease causes dry eyes and mouth and POTS, while mast cell activation disease (MCAS) affects the heart, gastrointestinal tract, and respiratory system.
