Stacey Abrams Plans to Run for Georgia Governor Again

Democrat Stacey Abrams is making another run for Georgia Governor putting in place a likely rematch with incumbent GOP Governor Brian Kemp

(Wednesday, December 1, 2021) – Stacey Abrams is launching a 2nd campaign to run for governor of Georgia in 2022.  The democratic voting rights activist made the announcement Wednesday via video saying “opportunity and success in Georgia shouldn’t be determined by background or access to power.”

Abrams’ announcement means another likely rematch with incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp.  Their 2018 contest was a nail biter race that drew national attention and was dominated by allegations of voter suppression.

Abrams said she would provide leadership that knows how to do the job, leadership that doesn’t take credit without taking responsibility, leadership that understands the true pain that folks are feeling and has real plans.  That’s the job of governor, to fight for one Georgia, our Georgia.”
