Two workers were killed in an explosion at a Delta Air Lines maintenance facility near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. According to reports, an airplane tire exploded in the facility’s tire and brake shop.
The plane had arrived in Atlanta from Las Vegas on Sunday. A Delta employee and a contractor were killed, with another worker seriously injured.
“The Delta family is heartbroken at the loss of two team members and the injury of another following an incident this morning at the Atlanta Technical Operations Maintenance facility (TOC 3),” A Delta Air Lines spokesperson told NBC News. “We have extended our full support to family members and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”
