Vigil Planned After Racially-Motivated Jacksonville Shooting

(Jacksonville, FL) — Another vigil is planned for tonight following a racially-motivated shooting that killed three people in Jacksonville over the weekend.

Laguerre was a 19-year-old high school graduate who worked at the store to help support his grandmother, Carr was an Uber driver beloved by her children, and Gallion was a devoted dad who was looking forward to a father-daughter dance with his 4-year-old daughter.

Community leaders are expected to gather downtown this evening as they call on state lawmakers to take action against white supremacy. Sheriff T.K. Waters says three Black people were killed when a 21-year-old gunman opened fire at a Dollar General on Saturday. The FBI is investigating the shooting as a hate crime.
