Washington, D.C. (Friday, May 10, 2024) – Just in time for Mother’s Day, WHUR and FedEX teamed up to host a special luncheon for “Moms Who Serve.” These are military, firefighters, police officers, and healthcare mothers. The luncheon was held Wednesday at Toya’s Creole Lounge in Silver Spring, Maryland.
It’s no secret that being a mom is by far one of the most challenging and yet rewarding jobs. Add to those motherly duties, a demanding career in the armed forces, law enforcement, healthcare, or fire & EMS; and you have a true definition of a “Super Mom.” These ladies go beyond the call of duty to “protect and serve our community/country” while also championing motherhood and looking fabulous while doing it.
The WHUR & FedEX luncheon was complete with great food, music, cards, flowers, cake, and lots of giveaways. Additionally, the ladies received valuable mental health information about how to manage stress, balance family and career, and how and were to reach out if they need help.
Now in its 12th year, the “Moms Who Serve Luncheon” is an opportunity for 60 moms to set aside the kids and job for a few hours and just focus on themselves. Here’s a recap of what the ladies experienced and what a few of them had to say about the luncheon.
