WHUR Honors 50 Military Moms For Mother’s Day

These women serve in our nation’s various branches of the military and are both officers and enlisted personnel. They hold two of the toughest jobs on the planet. They serve our country by protecting and defending our freedoms. They are also mothers.

WHUR and FedEx hosted our Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon for 50 Military Mothers complete with great food, music, card, custom floral arrangements, candy, and other surprises. The attendees included women who were newly enlisted, officers, and veterans. Hosted by our very own Lorna Newton, who is also a veteran, the luncheon was complete with lots of laughter and even had a few teary moments.  In the end, it’s was a fun day with some phenomenal women.

Guest speakers included ABC7’s Veronica Johnson, FedEx’s Sygrid Bruce, and Styled By Lynn’s Lynn Wooden. We would like to thank our wonderful incredible sponsors – FedEx, Copper Canyon Grill, and Lee’s Flowers & Card Shop, and the Howard University Radio Network.
