Time magazine is releasing a special issue honoring this time period of current expansion of Black culture.
Some have labeled this time as a second Black Renaissance.
National poet laureate Amanda Gorman is on the cover of the special issue.
She made history as the youngest National poet laureate to speak at a presidential inauguration.
In an interview with FLOTUS Michelle Obama she said, we’re living in an important moment in Black art. Whether that’s looking at what it means politically to have an African American president before Trump or looking at what it means to have the Black Lives Matter become the largest social movement in the United States.
