With this fall kicking off the celebration of 150 years of the rich history and tradition of college football, Howard University encourages alumni, students, faculty and staff to show that their college colors never fade by wearing their favorite Howard University gear on College Colors Day, which takes place on Friday, August 30. As part of the day of celebration, Howard University Athletics and WHBC 96.3HD3 will host a football kickoff pep-rally to celebrate the new season of Bison Football and Bison pride! Students, alumni, faculty and the Howard community can join the fun from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. in front of Burr Gymnasium, leading up to the Bison soccer game at 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
The 15th annual College Colors Day is a national holiday that gives Bison across the country the opportunity to showcase their spirit by wearing Bison Blue or Howard apparel and share their pride on social media using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay and #BisonColors.
“Our students, faculty, staff and alumni represent the long-standing traditions and values of Howard University, and we know that they are unafraid of showing the world how proud they are to be Bison on College Colors Day,” says Kery Davis, athletic director at Howard University.
College Colors Day was created by CLC, the University’s licensing partner, to provide a unified spirit day for college fans and supporters. This year’s holiday honors the kick-off of the football season with a partnership with College Football 150th Anniversary. Beyond showing their spirit on social media, Bisons can also visit www.CollegeColorsDay.com to enter for the chance to win a variety of prizes, including two tickets and a trip to the national championship game in New Orleans, thanks to CLC’s partnership with the College Football Playoff (CFP), and its charitable arm, Extra Yard for Teachers.
Whether going to work, school, or just spending time with friends, Bison are encouraged to share their school spirit by wearing Howard’s colors on College Colors Day and share their pride on social using the hashtag #BisonColors.
