DC Mayor Muriel Bowser made the announcement during her news conference on the coronavirus this morning. The inmate was identified as 51-year-old Deon Crowell. He was awaiting trial on a first degree murder charge. He was hospitalized on April 7th. Crowell is the first inmate and the 52nd person to die from COVID-19 in the District.
