Roc-A-Fella and Damon Dash on the verge of splitting?

On Friday the 18th it was reported that dash was being sued by the record label he co-founded. The basis of it stems from the attempted sale of Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt album as a non-fungible token. An NFT is essentially an asset that allows buyers to own the original piece of digital artwork or content–in this case, Jay-Z‘s debut album.

Dash says the lawsuit is filled with “misconceptions.”. For instance, the entrepreneur told TMZ that he’s trying to sell his entire stake in Roc-A-Fella–not just Reasonable Doubt. After an insulting offer from Jay-Z to buy his ⅓ stake, Dash has begun looking elsewhere for a buyer.

“Under the terms of the deal with a potential buyer, the buyer would buy my share of Roc-A-Fella Records and Jay-Z will have exclusive administration rights.”

Complex notes “The label is arguing that Dash can’t sell the Reasonable Doubt NFT because it’s owned by Roc-A-Fella. The company has asked the court to bar Dash from auctioning the NFT. They’ve also requested that Dash surrender any Reasonable Doubt NFTs he might have already created.”

While Dash feels the lawsuit may be a bluff or scare tactic, he is looking to sell his stake and part ways with long-time partner Jay-Z.
