Beyoncé is not only nominated for an Oscar this year, but the Academy confirmed her name among the performers this Tuesday.
According to the LA Times, Queen Bey will sing “Be Alive” from the Will Smith film “King Richard,” the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Tuesday in announcing the live performance. The song is also nominated for an Oscar this year.
“Beyoncé’s camp has been in deep talks with producers to mount a satellite performance of the song — one that would possibly open the show, and broadcast live from tennis courts in Compton, California,” reported Variety on Monday.
The performance being set on a tennis court would support the premise of ‘King Richard,’ a film that tells the story of Venus and Serena William’s journey to tennis domination.
Fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts about ‘Homecoming’ performer’s comeback via the Oscars stage. Many with humorous posts about only watching the Oscars for her performance. Other fans have shared their inability to handle the flawlessness that will ensue.
