The police in Hyattsville, Maryland are investigating after a shooting caused a local school to go on lockdown.
No injuries were reported in the shooting took place on Monday morning, but Northwestern High School was subsequently locked down “out of an abundance of caution,” according to Hyattsville police.
“At about 10:40 am officers responded to the football field at Northwestern High School for the report of gunshots. Evidence of shots fired but no injuries/damage reported. We have reason to believe shots were fired due to a dispute between 2 groups,” Hyattsville PD said in a post on Twitter.
The department said on Twitter that they will not release any additional details at the time due to the the fact that there is an ongoing investigation.
