The man accused of fatally shooting ten Black people in a Buffalo grocery store will face federal hate crime charges.
On Wednesday, the Justice Department announced 26 federal counts against 18-year-old Payton Gendron.
The criminal complaint says Gendron’s motivation was “to prevent Black people from replacing white people and eliminating the white race”. 10 people were killed and 3 more wounded in the May 14th attack, all but two of whom were Black.
Is it important to send a message by adding hate crime charges along with murder charges?
