After achieving many accolades, records, and successes following her critically acclaimed sophomore album SOS, contemporary R&B singer SZA will be awarded the honor of “Woman of the Year” at the Billboard Women in Music Awards held in Los Angeles on March 1st.
In December of last year, SZA dropped her long-awaited album SOS, which immediately debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard`200, and continued topping the charts for the following seven consecutive weeks.
The album has also recently gone certified platinum by the RIAA, with instant mega-hits such as “Good Days”, “I Hate U”, “Kill Bill” and more. The 33-year-old artist plans on embarking on her first arena tour as well, the first show starting out in Ohio on Feb. 21st.
Additionally, her debut album Ctrl has also remained on the Billboard 200 since its release in 2017, holding the record at 295 weeks (and still counting) for the longest run for any Black female artist’s debut album.
Billboard’s editorial director, Hannah Karp, goes on to say in a press statement: “The release of her latest album, SOS, has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B, and catapulted her into superstardom. We can’t wait to honor her as Woman of the Year.”
Tickets for the Billboard Women in Music Awards at the YouTube Theater are available to purchase through Ticketmaster, and the show will be available to watch through livestream as well.
