(Washington, DC) — The MPD is now enforcing a youth curfew. DC leaders enacted the pilot program Thursday in response to the uptick in juvenile crime. On Fridays and Saturdays, kids 16 and under spotted on the streets after midnight will be picked up by officers and taken to the Department of Youth and Rehabilitation Services where they’ll be connected with their families. It’s an 11:00 p.m. curfew Sunday to Thursday. Although the curfew is District-wide, only certain areas are being targeted for enforcement efforts, including Navy Yard, Chinatown, U Street, around Howard, Columbia Heights, Georgia Avenue and a couple of spots in Southeast.
