Recently, Bun B spoke on the Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs podcast as he reacted to the fact that many couples have used ‘Int’l Players Anthem’ as their wedding song when they walk down the aisle.
He said, “Here’s what’s crazy: I don’t know if André doesn’t do a wedding-themed video, if this [becomes] a wedding song.”
He continued, “I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but this is a huge wedding song now in the world. So many people have come up to me and said, ‘We walked out to this record.’ ‘It was our second dance.’ ‘I came out with my groomsmen.’ So many different aspects of weddings have utilized this record.”
The Houston native also discussed how the infamous beat drop came about. He explains that “the yin and yang” of Outkast framed the song, with Andre 3000 rapping over a stripped beat, with Big Boi ending the iconic song over the drums.
