The 2025 Met Gala ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ A Night of Legacy, Luxury, and Liberation

The 2025 Met Gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” took place on Monday night and boldly celebrated the beauty, depth, and influence of Black culture and style.

Pharrell Williams, one of this year’s co-chairs, promised an impactful evening that would honor the color Black — not just in fabric, but in spirit. The official dress code, “Tailored for You,” drew inspiration from the Costume Institute’s exhibition on menswear and the enduring legacy of Black dandyism, elegance, and self-expression.

Rihanna once again shut down the red carpet with a headline-making moment, revealing her third pregnancy in high fashion. Dressed in a custom Marc Jacobs look, a structured gray bustier, a flowing black floor-length skirt, a cropped black jacket, and matching tie and hat crafted by legendary milliner Stephen Jones, Rihanna exuded style and power. Her look was the perfect complement to her partner A$AP Rocky, a co-chair of this year’s event.

Famous for redefining maternity fashion on red carpets, Rihanna has never let pregnancy dim her shine. This marks her third child with A$AP Rocky, adding to their growing family of two sons. As a longtime Met Gala icon, she once again proved why she reigns supreme on the steps of the Met.

But the night belonged to more than just one moment.

“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” was not simply about fashion; it was about freedom, legacy, and resistance. Every ensemble told a deeper story of migration, joy, perseverance, pride, and identity. Black style has always been “superfine,” but on this night, the world didn’t just admire it; they stood in awe of it.
