According to Billboard, Janet Jackson has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious ICON Award at the 2025 American Music Awards.

The pop legend will also take the stage for a special performance, marking her first televised appearance since 2018. Jackson, 58, launched her career in 1982 with her debut album on A&M Records. Over the decades, she has earned 10 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and seven No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.


The ICON Award honors artists who have made a profound global and cultural impact on the music industry.

The 51st AMAs will be held on May 26 in Las Vegas, hosted by Jennifer Lopez. Jackson is currently performing in the city as part of her residency. Kendrick Lamar leads this year’s nominations with 10.
