(Upper Marlboro, MD) — Some Prince George’s County Public School students are waiting more than an hour to catch a bus to school. A report released yesterday revealed the school district is struggling to accurately track how many buses are running behind schedule. Despite many attempts to hire new drivers, the county says they are still in need of nearly a hundred bus drivers. The school district tracks the buses through an app called “Here Comes the Bus” but due to the shortage, last minute changes are often made and not updated on the app. PGCPS Chief Operating Officer Barry Stanton says there’s a possibility the district could reduce the number of bus routes next school year.
