According to NPR, Kanye West is banned by The Academy from performing on this year’s Grammy’s stage after inappropriate online behavior toward this year’s Grammy host Trevor Noah, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her partner Pete Davidson.

In a segment on ‘the Daily Show,’ Trevor Noah spoke up for Kardashian, saying, “You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous. But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch and shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”

West responded with a now-deleted Instagram post that included a racial slur, which violates Instagram’s ban against hate speech, bullying and harassment. This led to the platform locking West out of his account for 24 hours and a ban from this year’s Grammy awards.

Noah responded to West’s Grammy ban by tweeting, “I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.”

People reports, West is nominated for five Grammys this year, four nominations toward his 10th studio project ‘Donda’ named after his late mother, Donda West, and one nomination toward Album of The Year for his production on Lil Nas X’s ‘Montero.’
