Black 90s film fans stand up! A ‘House Party’ remake will on HBO Max this Summer.
The remake is an entirely new interpretation of the 90s classics, outside of the franchise. The film is directed by well-known music video director Calmatic (Pharrell and Jay-Z’s “Entrepreneur,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” The Internet’s “Special Affair/Curse”), screenplay by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover (both writers for FX’s Atlanta). The cast features Tosin Cole, Jacob Latimore, Karen Obilom, Melvin Gregg, Rotimi, Allen Maldonado, and DC Young Fly. The series is also produced by Lebron James’s Springhill Company.
Cast members, writers, and producers have been particularly quiet. All information regarding the remake has come from media outlets, with no remarks or posts from the inside.
There might be a possibility for cameos from original cast members like Tisha Campbell, Martin Lawrence, and of course, Kid N Play.
The film will premiere on July 28th, exclusively streaming on HBO Max.
