May 21st would have been Biggie’s 50th birthday.

New York has events planned for what would have been a very special day.

On May 20th there will be a ceremony at the Empire State Building including Diddy, his mom, Voletta Wallace, Lil Kim and more. On May 21 the Empire State building will be lit up in red and white with a crown spinning to pay homage to Biggie’s debut album. The Barclays Center will honor him by featuring a video montage on the display above the entrance to the building.

NYC MTA will release a special edition MetroCard featuring Biggie that will be available on three lines.

There are more events planned going into June which is Black Music Month.
