Travis Scott‘s Cactus Jack Foundation has announced that they will be giving out one million dollars in scholarships.
The money will be available to 100 students at HBCUs.
The Waymon Wester scholarship which was named after Travis Scott’s grandfather for his dedication towards Black academic excellence started it’s first class of recipients in 2021.
“Waymon Webster was a Dean of the Prairie View A&M graduate school. My grandfather wanted me to take it all the way through college, I feel there is a power in education so to be able to give someone the opportunity to fulfill that dream as my papa thought for me is amazing.” – Travis Scott
For this, they will be donating $10K to each student who finishes off their scholastic career with at least a 3.5 GPA.
The move becomes one of Scott’s public efforts since the Astroworld festival which resulted in the deaths of ten people.
