August 9, 2023 marks the what would’ve been the 60th birthday of Whitney Houston. It’s undisputed that she is one of the greatest voices in music history. I mean, who else could make the Star Spangled Banner a #1 Pop Hit? No one can carry a ballad like Whitney did.
According to IMDb, Houston left behind six Grammy awards, seven American Music Awards, six NAACP awards, a Primetime Emmy, seven Soul Train Awards, and a BET Lifetime Achievement Award amongst many others. If there was a global superlative for Best Smile, she would’ve won that too. Outside of making music, she was an accomplished actress in the classic films Rodger & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Bodyguard, The Preacher’s Wife, and Waiting to Exhale (which gave us the bop “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)”). She even produced two of Disney’s most popular coming-of-age films, The Cheetah Girls and The Princess Diaries.
To her friends, family, and true fans, she will always be remembered as beautiful, lively, inspiring and a true gift.
Pick up a comb or hair brush and belt your heart out in honor of Whitney!
