Although Black people account for just 40 percent of Washington D.C.’s population, they’ve made up 98 percent of the Capitol’s COVID-19 deaths since June.
That’s according to data provided by DCCovid.com, which reveals 49 of 50 people who have died over the past four months have been Black. Going back to the start of the pandemic, 911 of 1,184 people who have died from COVID were Black, the data reveals.
Case-wise, more than half of Washington D.C.’s 63,305 confirmed infections have involved Black patients, per the website.
