Amtrak Canceling All Long Distance Service Ahead of Strike

it would be the first national railroad strike in 30 years

(Undated)  —  Amtrak is ditching all long-distance routes over concerns about the impact of a possible railroad strike.  If it does happen it would be the first national railroad strike in 30 years and could start as soon as Friday.  Although the potential strike involves freight rail workers, not Amtrak or its workers, the freight tracks Amtrak uses would not be available if the strike takes place.
