Minimum wage workers in the District of Columbia will soon see a pay raise.
According to the office of wage management compliance, “Beginning July 1, 2022, the minimum wage in the District of Columbia will increase from $15.20 per hour to $16.10 per hour for all workers, regardless of the size of the employer.
The base minimum wage for tipped employees will increase from $5.05 per hour to $5.35. However, if an employee’s hourly tip earnings (averaged weekly) added to the base minimum wage do not equal the District’s full minimum wage, the employer must pay the difference.”
Since 2016, we’ve raised the District’s minimum wage to give every Washingtonian a #FairShot.
This Friday, we’re doing it again.
Effective July 1, DC’s minimum wage will increase from $15.20 to $16.10/hour for non-tipped employees and $5.35 for tipped employees in the District.

The wage increase comes as Americans across the country struggle to grapple with rising costs of living.
