Washington, D.C. (Wednesday, March 9, 2022) – A doctor at Medstar Washington Hospital has become the latest victim of the rising car thefts and carjackings in the District of Columbia.
DC police say Dr. Rakesh Patel was struck and killed Tuesday night in Adams Morgan by a suspect who stole his dark-silver Mercedes E50 from the 1800 block of Vernon Street. 
Patel was an intensive care unit doctor. He was 33-years-old. Police say as the suspect was fleeing in Patel’s car he struck the doctor and sped off. Police are looking for the suspect and car, which has Ohio plates EVB5183.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Metropolitan Police Department.
