High Court Overturns Roe v. Wade

Protests are erupting in front of the U.S. Supreme Court as justices today rule to overturn Roe v Wade, setting the stage for some states to ban abortions

Washington, D.C. (Friday, June 24, 2022) – The U. S. Supreme Court ruled today to upend a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.  The 6-3 decision came Friday morning giving states the greenlight to set their own abortion laws.

Almost half of states in the US are expected to severely restrict abortions or to outlaw them altogether.  Today’s majority opinion was written by Justice Samuel Alito with five other conservative justices joining him.
