NY Congressman Santos’ Third Expulsion Vote Expected On Friday

(Washington, DC) — Embattled New York Congressman George Santos is facing a third expulsion vote on Friday. It’ll take a two-thirds vote to kick the GOP freshman to the curb in a House narrowly controlled by Republicans. The effort failed the first two rounds but even Santos expects he’ll be ousted this time and is telling colleagues, “either put up or shut up.” Santos has pleaded not guilty to 23 federal charges involving laundering campaign money and ripping off donors. Despite the allegations and a scathing House Ethics Committee report, House Speaker Mike Johnson says he has “real reservations” about expelling Santos who hasn’t been convicted.
