Pediatricians Warn Against Screen Time for Kids Under 3

Washington, D.C. (Tuesday, January 9, 2024) – A health alert for parents. Pediatricians say that children under the age of 3 should not be allowed screen time. A new study published in JAMA Pediatrics found that screen time for babies and toddlers can lead to developmental delays associated with disorders like autism and ADHD.

Researchers at Drexel University analyzed data on the television and movie habits of nearly 1,500 kids younger than 2. The findings showed that 1-year-olds who had screen time had a 105% higher likelihood of experiencing sensory processing issues at 33 months old.

The findings concluded that children younger than 3 should not be allowed screen time and those between the ages of 3 to 5 should be limited to just one hour a day.
