Road Closures For State Of The Union

Starting at 5:00 p.m. street closures will be implemented in order to secure the area.

(Washington, DC) — Metropolitan Police say a number of streets around the U.S. Capitol will be off limits later today as security is stepped up for the State of the Union speech. Starting at 5:00 p.m. street closures will be implemented in order to secure the area for the arrival of officials and President Biden. The U.S. Capitol Police say the road closures around the Capitol building are consistent with previous road restrictions and are not in reaction to a possible truck and vehicle convoy. The restrictions will remain in place into the overnight hours when police will begin to roll back road closures.
