We spotlight and remember the magnificent history and legacy of African Americans in Washington, DC

Today is the start of Black History Month.  Many of us know a little something about African American History but specifically, the legacy of black people in Washington, DC is especially rich, from the founding of Howard University, to the emancipation of enslaved people before the enactment of the Emancipation Proclamation, to home rule and black empowerment–there is much to remember and celebrate.  Tonight, we do just that.
