Ninety percent of Black dermatologists in the U.S.. were trained at Howard University. Becoming a dermatologist requires a significant amount of education; all dermatologists receive training in the four branches of dermatology: medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, surgical dermatology, and dermatopathology. At the forefront of diversifying this field is Howard University’s College of Medicine (HUCM). On this episode of “The Journey,” Dr. Wayne Frederick discusses the treatment of patients with pigmented skin with Dr. Ginette Okoye, the Chair of Dermatology at HUCM.
