The WHUR Helping Hands Radiothon helps to support the Howard University Alternative Spring Break (HUASB) Program in which students volunteer and render needed services in marginalized communities around the nation and the world. Monies raised help to pay for transportation, lodging, and food for many Howard students who will travel to 25 different locations in the U.S. and abroad.

Tutoring, mentoring and restoring communities. These are just a few of the real-life issues Howard University students will tackle as part of their Alternative Spring Break. Now in its 29th year, more than 1,000 Howard students will forgo their traditional spring break to travel March 4th – March 11th to 25 marginalized communities across the country and globe to provide 250-thousand volunteer service hours. But they need your help. Support the 96.3 WHUR Helping Hands Radiothon on February 26th from 6 am to 6 pm to help defray the costs of transportation, lodging, and food.
