Homeowner Accused Of Shooting Black Teen Turns Himself In

Ralph Yarl was shot in the head and the arm after he was at the wrong residence attempting to pick up his siblings.

(Liberty, MO) — The white homeowner accused of shooting a Black teen who rang the wrong doorbell in Missouri has turned himself in. Andrew Lester, who is in his 80’s, is facing two felony charges — armed criminal action and first-degree assault.

Ralph Yarl was shot in the head and the arm after he was at the wrong residence attempting to pick up his siblings. He is recovering at home.

According to Sarah Boyd the Clay County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Lester’s $200,000 bond prohibit him from having any type of weapon, and cannot have direct or indirect contact with Yarl or his family.

The Yarl families attorney Ben Crump said it was ” nothing short of a miracle” as Ralph was released from the hospital and able to recover at home.

No confirmation as of now if Lester has an attorney. He told police the two did not have any conversation before firing at the young man through the locked glass door.
